DSF are a world leader in the supply of tin bath bottom blocks for the production of float glass.

DSF CTB is proven over many years and numerous installations to give trouble free glass production. With its unique properties, DSF CTB is the preferred choice of many of the world’s major float glass producers. DSF CTB is a cast material with a low cement bond, critically it has low diffusivity in combination with low porosity, which is difficult to achieve but inhibits nepheline formation and reduces the prospect of hydrogen bubble. DSF CTB is used in both the hot and cold end of the tin bath with no reported cases of nepheline flaking. DSF CTB Ram is the accompanying stud hole material. In the tin bath roof, DSF offer another unique grade of material. DSF Calex TBR is a cast calcium aluminate material, which has no reaction with soda vapour and has extremely low thermal conductivity. It is normally used in the first few bays of the tin bath, where there is typically more severe wear.

In glass furnace regenerators, DSF’s zoned mullite design has become standard in the industry as glassmakers have moved away from basic and silica refractories. Our typical recommendation has been refined over many years of product testing and evaluation to give the optimum solution. DSF Mullite ML31 is a unique high fired material containing 70% alumina, but converting to 97% crystalline mullite on firing giving stability and chemical resistance in service. This is used in the more critical regenerator applications such as target walls, division walls, regenerator crowns and upper walls. DSF Frisil H is a mullite brick derived from andalusite and high fired to give maximum conversion to mullite (90%), it can be used in most regenerator applications including regenerator mid and upper walls, the regenerator crown and transition tiles. DSF Frisil G is slightly lower alumina and is typically used in rider arch application, its balance of glassy phase to prevent alkali penetration and thermal shock resistance to withstand temperature swings offers a solution to inhibit degradation in this area. More recently DSF Frisil LP has been developed for rider arch and adaptor course application in response to cracking and premature failure in some regenerators. DSF Frisil LP has inherent low permeability to prevent penetration of sodium and sulphur compounds, which can ultimately lead to a reduction in thermal shock capability.

DSF supply back up materials for the melter including DSF CF40 cast subhearth bottom blocks with superior glass resistance, DSF Porolite 135 which is a high strength insulating material used in the bottom and sidewalls and DSF Composite 435, which is a combi-block for sidewall insulation.

Monolithic materials are available to complement the shaped refractory chemistries supplied.
